Ilia State University (ISU), located in Tbilisi, Georgia, is a higher education institution, established in 2006 as a merger of six different educational and research institutions. According to the 2013 Webometrics Ranking of World Universities, which ranks university websites, Ilia State University maintains the first place in Georgia (a rise on the previous year with 716 units improved mark – 1821), as well as the first place in the Caucasus.〔(Webometrics world ranking )〕 ==Study== In its activities, Ilia State University follows the model of a research triangle. This justifies the existence of three interdisciplinary directions at the University: # Georgian studies; # Researches in fundamental and applied sciences; # Participation in international research. The university was the first university in Georgia to introduce principles of liberal education. In 2012, a new standard for teaching called RESULT (Research and Education Systems United as Learning Tools) was implemented, which means that students and professors are communicating about a specific research issue and carry out research together (research based teaching).
